Let's start with the fact that the master of the genre Steven Spielberg, who simply does not know how to make a bad movie, took on the creation of the film "War of the Worlds". The script is based on the novel of the same name by H.G. Wells, which has remained relevant until the digital age. And what fear and awe did the novel's radio show in the 30s, which was taken as a news report about the invasion of the Martians, caused? It is not surprising that Spielberg's version was greeted with enthusiasm by the viewer, and still does not lose its popularity.
The stake is made not only on a successful plot, but also on a strong cast: Tom Cruise, who perfectly copes with any impossible mission, Tim Robbins, who can desperately fight for life to the last drop of his mind, as well as young North American stars - Dakota Fanning and Justin Chestwick, who showed miracles of strength and endurance. The time of action has been postponed to our days, the place of action is the United States.
If you do not have time to watch this film, then we offer you a summary of the War of the Worlds movie.
Brief description of the film War of the Worlds
The protagonist of the film is a simple hard worker Ray performed by Tom Cruise. He's a crane operator at the Port of Brooklyn, living in one of the cardboard townhouses huddled under a huge road bridge. On the day when envious aliens decided to attack the earth, Ray discovers a pregnant ex-wife Mary Ann with her current husband at the door of his shack. They pulled up in a brand new jeep and brought the children of Mary Ann and Ray. He is embarrassed because he forgot about his ex-wife's request to pick up the children for the weekend while she visits her parents in Boston. Ray tries to connect with his children. But Robbie's son stubbornly calls him by name, in his heart he considers his father a loser, and Rachel's daughter is too withdrawn to show her feelings.
The weekend is going to be stressful. Suddenly the sky is covered with gray clouds, the wind rises. Ray invites his daughter to leave the house and admire the bright flashes. Lightning strikes almost next to the house, then another and another. Ray and his neighbors, who went out to gaze at the strange glow, scatter to their homes. Robbie returns, secretly borrowing his car from his father, Ray orders the children to stay at home, and he himself goes to the city to find out what happened.
There are many anxious people on the streets, Ray runs forward, when suddenly the ground begins to crack under his feet, buildings collapse. People are in a hurry to leave this place, looking around curiously. Metal tripods with a control cabin appear from the ground with a wild roar. Their heat ray instantly splits people into atoms. And all the electronics fail. Ray miraculously manages to return home. He quickly recovers from the shock, collects the children and takes them out of the city in a stolen car. Having passed the night in the house of his ex-wife, Ray and his children see a crashed Boeing and a car with journalists. Reporters report that the entire world is engulfed in lightning, which has brought aliens to earth that operate tripods. Ray and the children drive on, on the way they notice the military and equipment, Robbie shouts that he wants to join them. Ray discourages him. The heroes are forced to walk after how a maddened crowd takes their car away from them. They are moving towards the ferries. Pushing each other apart, a large group of people seeks to get on the lifeboat. Suddenly, tripods appear from the water and begin to hunt for people, metal tentacles grab a person and throw them into a large basket under the tripod cabin.
Having got out on the shore, Robbie escapes towards the military, and Ray and his daughter find themselves in Harlan's house. He is armed and wants to take revenge on the Martians for the death of his family. Here the heroes learn that aliens use blood as a nutrient fluid. At night, the invaders visit Harlan's house, but Ray manages not to reveal his presence, despite Harlan's attempts to annihilate the aliens immediately. Ray has to neutralize Harlan, who has become dangerous for him and his daughter. Rachel is overcome by panic, she runs away and is trapped by a tripod. Ray follows her and ends up in the same cage. The Martians pull people to them through the funnel. Ray blows up the funnel. Now he and his daughter are free.
The heroes, along with other survivors, find themselves near Boston. Here Ray sees birds landing on impenetrable tripods. The military launch an attack, the tripods fall, and their Martian pilots are killed. Ray with his daughter in his arms walks to the house of his ex-wife's parents. On the threshold they are met by their relatives. Robbie hugs his father and calls him dad.
